I don't know if someone will be sad about this. lols

2015 had not been a very good year for Monmonkun. I had only written 10 blog posts! What a lazy bum I was!

However, this 2016, I decided to become a better blogger - and I mean it.

Monmonkun will be officially dead, but I will create a new blog wherein I will purely dedicate myself writing about anime, manga and other Japanese-related stuff.

No more freelancing, blogging and kitten talks then? Of course, I will still blog about these other passions of mine, but each will be discussed in separate blogs.

So this year, I will be managing 3 blogs: (1) anime and manga, (2) blogging and freelancing, and (3) kittens.

Can I do it?

I think I can! I have someone who'll help me managing my 3 blogs!

Thank you everyone for supporting Monmonkun during the past three years. It has been a not-so great journey for me, but I'm excited to open a new chapter in my life this new year.

Happy New Year all!
This coming May 2016, your favorite romance anime Wolf Girl and Black Prince (Okami Shojo to Kuro Oji) will have a live action film.

Fumi Nikaido will play the role of Erika Shinohara, while Kento Yamazaki is Kyoya Sata.

Do you think that these two are perfect for the roles?

Yeah, I know. I'm a little late commenting on this series. But it's better now or never. I have my hopes up for Osomatsu-san because my Facebook news feed is full of the anime series it parodied.

osomatsu-san anime parody

Being a fan of Gintama, I began to like parody anime series. But Osomatsu-san's first episode didn't made me excited to watch its next episode because of the following reasons:

1. I hate the black and white screen time.

And it almost lasted for about three minutes. Yes, I understand that the original series began during the Showa period and having a black and white screen would be more convincing. But that killed my excitement.

2. It has Nobita's face all over it.

My heart is crushed after seeing six Nobita look-a-likes. No way. Nobita should only appear in Doraemon!

3. The BL scene is not that titillating.

It tainted the sacredness of the BL community. Girls watching are supposed to have romantic chills, but I didn't.

4. It's title should be Choromatsu-san.

Cos Choromatsu-san does the talking more.

So please drop this.
sick cat

Before we answer that question, let's first define what giardiasis is.

What is giardisis?

Giardiasis is a parasytic infection that may affect cats due to the protozoan called giardia. When ingested, these microscopic protozoans would reproduce in a cat's intestines causing diarrhea.

What are the symptoms of giardiasis?

If your cat defecated soft, watery, or mucus-like stools, with an awful smell, then it is possible that your feline friend is suffering from giardiasis.

How do cats acquire giardiasis?

Cats acquire giardiasis when they ingest a contaminated fecal matter of other animals, or when they drink a giardia-infested water.

So based on how your pet cat acquires giardiasis, plastic food bowls are not the main culprits.

However, your vet would most probably advise you to get rid of your pet's plastic food bowls because plastic food bowls have the highest percentage to harbor bacteria which may then worsen your pet's diarrhea.

So, do cats acquire giardiasis from plastic food bowls?

The answer is no. Cats only do get giardiasis "from plastic food bowls" if you accidentally or unknowingly filled their plastic food bowl with a giardia-infested water, or if the bowl is unsanitary.

Rekari, my very first anime blogger friend, has nominated me for an award - the Sunshine Award 2015. This award recognizes noteworthy anime blogs, and at the same time, empowering anime bloggers to connect.

Upon checking my Google+ notifs, I saw Rekari's privately shared message stating that I've been nominated for an award. Curious as a cat, I wondered what would that be.

And poof! My G+ Anime Bloggers community was nominated for being awesome - at least in the eyes of Rekari. Lol.

Anyways, I'm thankful that my G+ community has been recognized. (Please join.)

For all Rekari's nominees, he has given the following questions:

1. Where do you draw your inspiration?

As you would notice these days, weeks, or months, I haven't been inspired writing for my blog as evidenced by infrequent blog posts. Well, perhaps most of my time is eaten up by my work.

After work, my mind is so deadly tired. For the remaining time, I mostly spend it on cleaning the house, watching a few anime episodes, doing my part-time work, etc...instead of blogging.

But what mostly fuel me to blog is my dream of being known in the anime blogosphere. As of now, that's still a far-fetched dream.

2. What is most important to you when it comes to anime or manga?

Honestly, I pick my anime and manga fix based on the characters' appearance. And I'm not fond of moe characters. Nevertheless, I still look at the story line and the genre.

My favorite genres are action, adventure, comedy, gender bender, martial arts, seinen, shounen, sports, supernatural and tragedy.

Though most of today's anime and manga have great character designs, they are still not immune to be included in my "dropped list" if the story isn't that good.

3. How did you pick your blog name or writing name?

Monmonkun was lifted from the sound "nom nom nom." As for my writing name (which is Lem), it stands for the reversed initials of my full name.

4. Where do you wish to see your blog in the future?

I wish for it to be one of the most visited anime blogs. Well actually, this blog is a mixture of anime, manga, blogging, freelancing and cat topics. However, I think that I will mostly concentrate writing about anime and manga more on this blog.

5. Which anime character do you relate the most?

Hmm... I can't think of any girl characters, but I am able to relate with the one from Baby Steps, Eiichiro Maruo.

No. I didn't make notes for my classmates like Maruo did. I don't have a heart of gold. I could only relate to Maruo's dedication to his studies, and then I also discovered something I like doing.

And no, I didn't play tennis. Even if I like the anime sports genre, I'm not the athletic type.

6. If you could only pick one, would you rather have anime, manga, music, or video games?

I'd pick anime, cos I love moving colors. Next would be manga and then music. No to video games. Though anime fans have the tendency to become a gamer, too, I'm not one of them.

futaba-ao-haru-ride7. If you were an anime character, how would you want to look? Why?

Yoshioka Futaba from Ao Haru Ride. She looks simple yet absolutely stunning. I wanna dye my hair reddish brown! But I guess that would make me look weird.

Anyways, what made me want to be like her is because of her strong-willed and earnest character.

8. Have you ever considered pursuing a career related to anime or Japan?

Yes. I finished a nursing degree. My mum told me to study Japanese cos during that time, nurses were in demand in Japan.

So she enrolled me to a Nihongo school to be able to pass the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT).

However, I wasn't able to finish the course due to some unforeseen circumstances.

9. What made you start a blog?

I started this blog while I was hunting for a new job. I don't want to be doing nothing. Plus, I have heard that blogging is a great way to earn extra income online. And that sounds cool. I'll be able to earn something extra while writing about the things I like.

10. What does anime mean to you?

For me, anime is the best leisure I ever had. It helped me to discover and do worthwhile activities that I have never done before. For example, anime helped me to explore the world of digital arts, music and websites. Not that I'm an expert to any of these, but these are something that I could polish.

I would like to nominate the following anime blogs for the Sunshine Award 2015:

Daily Anime Art - I'm following this blog ever since I was a college student. It's my main source of Bleach spoilers. You could also find cool anime arts featured here. And Sunite, the blog owner, is very nice. Yeah, he is a very approachable guy.

Otaku Journalist - I'm a frequent lurker of this wonderful anime blog. It's owned by Lauren Orsini. During the past, she mostly blogged about anime, but today, she's been frequently blogging about some freelancing tips, too. So if you want to learn the ropes of having an anime blogging career, Otaku Journalist is the best blog to visit.

Draggle's Anime Blog - I'm not really a fan of episodic blog reviews, but Draggle's got me hooked. I was fascinated by Draggle's unique, wacky and insightful episodic commentaries.

Mainichi Anime Yume - I enjoy reading MAY's anime impressions and anime lists. Sometimes, I discover new anime series to watch through reading her blog.

My questions for nominees:

1. What made you start an anime blog? How long have you been blogging?

2. How did you come up with your blog name?

3. What's the most rude comment you have received in your anime blog? How did you handle it?

4. What is your favorite blog post that you have written and why?

5. Do you have big plans for your anime blog?

6. What are your favorite anime series and why?

7. Who is your favorite anime character?

8. What are the other things you like doing aside from watching anime?

9. Do you cosplay? (Please share pictures.) If not, who is your favorite cosplayer?

10. What is your advice to anime fans who are planning to start a blog?

Please feel free to answer any of these 10 questions. Afterwards, please nominate other anime blogs you think are deserving for the Sunshine Award 2015. Thank you very much.
